Where is the club hut situated?
Directly below the cliffs of Bwlch-y-Moch, Tremadog, Nr Portmadog, North Wales. The hut is adjacent to one of the UK’s premier rock climbing venues. Being situated close to the Snowdonia National park it offers convenient accommodation for all of the mountains of North/Mid Wales.
What facilities does the hut offer ?
The stone hut, built 50 years ago, used to be a cow shed! It has now been converted and consists of ‘bunkhouse’ style accommodation sleeping 15 people when booked independently and 21 with the club dormitory.
The hut was renovated recently following a successful Sport England grant application, and consists of: 2 dormitories to hold 16 in total; a lounge with wood burning stove; 2 showers, 2 WC’s and 2 wash rooms (with a dividing door to provide 2 independent wash areas); and a large fully equipped kitchen and dining area. We also have a very effective drying room to combat the worst of the Welsh weather. There are three pubs within a mile and Eric’s famous café opposite.
Can I use the hut before I join?
Besides being made available for group bookings to other organisations, the hut is also available to prospective members on a trial basis when accompanied by an existing member at the guest rate. Upon becoming a member you are free to use our hut whenever you wish and as a base for whatever activity you choose.
How Much Does it Cost?
BRMC Members can use the hut for £5 per person per night. Guests can accompany members at a rate of £7.50 per person per night.
What if I’m interested in using your facilities but do not wish to join?
That’s fine. The club exists to foster an appreciation of the mountain environment. For details of availability and costs, please contact the Hut Secretary.
